Hagia Sophia

I'm quite disgruntled about my grade on my last paper. I poured effort into that paper and it was one of the papers that i've felt the most confidence about in my life. The topic was a title that I knew a lot about and was very interested in. It seemed like papers of similar style had much higher grades than mine. I'm not discrediting anyone I just believe my paper was as good as many of the papers that received high A's.

I think your comment deserves an answer. I don't blame your dissatisfaction and aggravation. I'm guessing that to this point most of your papers have been As. I would hope that your intelligence and writing is known to contain excellent manner of expression, depth and insight for a senior. There is NO argument there. However, it must also be as "clean" as possible, free of comma splices and flaws in punctuation that disrupt & distract the reading. If I were grading solely on content, your paper would garner you As everytime; but an outstanding or excellent paper must be polished, as well as brilliant. It's the distasteful grunt work that makes the difference. As the cliche goes, "The Devil's in the details." YOU are capable of very high quality thought, expression, development--but it still has to follow conventions of standard, written English. I'm sorry. I had another paper tha was "clean" but lacked depth, lacked thought--it didn't make an A, either.
